This Convex Edge hair shear blade design is extremely powerful and facilitates smooth and sharp cutting. As the outer face of the blade is curved, this blade type is especially suitable for slide cutting and allows for more advanced cutting techniques to be used. The sharper angle of the cutting edge on a convex hair shear makes them cut smoother and stay sharp longer. Due to these attributes, this blade type is harder to make than others, so professional hairdressing shears with convex edges are usually a bit more expensive.
Convex shears are designed and formed with a shallow arc to the backside of the blades. Instead of a distinct angle to the edge, the blades are milled to a fine point. This creates a thin cutting edge which makes the blades cut very smoothly. The convex shears are generally accepted as the smoother cutting shear.
For best results and a perfect haircut, hair should be washed and conditioned with a good quality shampoo and conditioner. A good quality comb is also handy.
